The Dom (Cathedral) in Köln (Cologne), a must see for everyone who has the opportunity to visit Germany. This is a B&W conversion of a single RAW manually "HDR'd" and tone mapped, with all sorts of odd things like burning, dodging, vignetting, etc. Yes, this was in my portfolio - still one of my favorite shots of the year. This version is toned down a bit from the one I'd posted before.

You've really taken it from the original to a new original. A truly stunning image. Wonderful mix of a Renaissance and modern feel. You should be proud.

Awesome angle and processing. The wide angle worked beautifully. I don't know how I missed these shots in your portfolio!

This is truly awesome. i love your processing. with the angle you shot it and the foreground it truly looks like it reaches to the heavens. you should make a large print and hang it.

Still a striking shot, glad you dusted this one off from the vaults. This b&w has teeth.

I seem to remember this one, a long time ago...maybe on the old team suck member board. Very nice Deb. I like the scale you accomplished. Feels like one man against the church. Well done.

I love the mix of active & passive humanity at the base of this powerfully foreshortened, dramatic, monument - The black & white elegantly pops, but also pulpy & bleeding. Articulation of a gospel radio vision.

Great job Deb. You nailed the processing on this - it's wow, but not overbearing.

I'm sad to tell you that I sat on this image for a minute after voting on it (an 8 BTW) trying to decide whether to bump to 9 and I didn't. : ( Probably should have - it's very cool - but an 8 is nothing to sneeze at! Well done and congrats on top 40 in an impressive challenge!

I saw this in the challenge and I could not remember why it looked so familiar. And now I know why! The black and white make for a very striking contrast. I love how the building reaches up into that beautiful sky. Congrats on the high placement in the BEST OF!

Deb, this is such a beautiful shot. Did you see that Yanko included it in his top three in the Posthumous Ribbon thread? You got more favorites than I did, too :-)

I thought I recognised Koln Cathedral, but the great thing is that this shot still has the sme impact and wow factor as the original did.. The majesty of the architecture is almost neyong words and I love the way you have composed the shot so the spire totally dominates and looms above the congregation/tourists

Great shot

Not sure I care for the distorted perspective, but I really like the processing effects to show off the details.

I think this is a really great picture. Being fairly new to photography principles, I often wonder what type of lens' are used to take certain shots... will you let me know after the challenge? Thanks

Deb, this looks awesome! I'm sure your score has been climbing. As my husband said, "why can't you take stuff like that instead of white peacock photos?" Imagine this as a large print. Wonderful work.
