 Self portrait. I've been wanting to try some experiments with low-key or rim-lighting. When I read about this challenge to honor Sean on DPC, I thought this would be appropriate. I hope it is. This came out pretty much exactly like I had envisioned it.
My condolences to the family. I'm new around here and didn't know Sean, but I am very saddened that such a young and talented person had to leave us and this world.

Not a lot of processing.
Just levels, sepia toning, resizing, and some selective sharpening and blurring.

POST CHALLENGE:
Wow. A top 10 finish, and my PB. Thank you everyone for all of the very nice comments. This is very encouraging for me as a newcomer to this.

effective use of lighting to really create a sense of ruggedness in the model. Some might not agree with going without a title. I believe that its a better way to go sometimes. A great shot that I think Sean would have enjoyed.

Doesnt' feel so much like a portrait, though maybe that's not what this challenge was about. Lovely shadows, but feels much too posed for my subjective taste.

My favorite in the challenge. The lighting on this is, imo, perfect. Enough is lit that it is obvious it is a "cowboy," but enough is "hidden," that it could be any man. Great composition.

Very nice. I like the lighting and colortone choice. Kind of wish the hand was in focus, but that's tough to do without going deep on aperture. Good luck in the challenge.
