This little fella is known as the Desert Lynx, aka African Lynx and is found in parts of Africa and Asia. It truly is a beautiful animal and capturing this image was well worth the return airfare, guide fee and partial mauling. If you come face to face with one of these guys bear in mind, they run very fast and are fiercly territorial. Should have picked up on that when I saw the guide high tail it
through the jungle like a gazelle. For future reference, trembling, running, dodging and screaming does not equal 'tack sharp'. But it was close enough that I think it's salvagable. We'll see what the voters think. I hope it's a while between Wildlife shoots 'cause the experience was costly to say the least. Malaria SUCKS. But in the end it WAS worth the effort... anything to MEET THE CHALLENGE.

It's so easy for people to assume certain things about a photo without knowing the full story. As a wildlife shot the photo is really good. As a wildlife shot NOT IN A ZOO with a story like you have the photo is great. Given your obvious post skills, I'm surprised you didn't do some more adjustments to this, though. I think a little more color + some slightly deeper blacks would have ratcheted this up a bit as far as DPC goes.

LOL, what a funny story...

Nice shot and brilliant photog comments - I like a bit of sly humor in the afternoon. ;)

wow! Just read how you got the shot! If it was going by effort to get the shot yours definitely should've been rated higher! A really nice shot too I would've needed a change of undies if I saw that beast coming out of the woods at me!!

What a beautiful cat. The sharpness on her is really good, especially the ears and face.

An appealing photo with good expression and pose, lighting, and compositional elements. Bit of a shame the paw to the left is cut off, but nonetheless, a strong photo.

Wish "I" could say I had taken this shot, love it.
Great detail in the plant life and you have captured the expression on the face of your 'Stalker' so well.

ok, if I were a gambling man I'd wager a few quid on this being a zoo shot lol (you'll understand if your reading the rather depressing scores thread).

Anyway, let me know if I'm right (post challenge is fine). My sole 10 vote in the challenge (might bump a little weekend). No, its not a purrfect shot but pretty darn close with the full frame, stride, concentration on the cat and the general feel of stalking pray.

Best of luck in the challenge :)

For some reason the unhelpful thought that pops into my mind is from Sylvester and Tweetiepie . .

" I thort I thaw a Puddy cat shneaking up on me . . " lol

I would be very worried if this one was heading anywhere near me. Is it a lynx ?

Anyway - nice shot and good surroundings, ideally a lower Pov would have made this even more powerful, but hey - that's life :- )

Great shot of a lynx, even if the top of his bum is slightly cropped. Hey, did you notice that that's catnip in the left side of the frame? 7
