| Photos like this one are what make family albums great to have. They are little adults before you even notice, then one more eye blink, and you are making albums of the grandkids. |

~Critique Club Comment~
COMPOSITION- This one made me laugh. It is a great shot going for a humorous look. You've cropped it nicely and the lighting is great. This makes a good portrait shot. Also I like that you've gotten down to his level.
BACKGROUND- It's a little messy with the houses in the back and the wire.
TECHNICAL- The lighting is great on his face. Very natural. The shutter and F-stop are great. I saw a show on TV tonight and you might try using the flash in daylight and see how it looks. It said it brings out color and a little gleam to the eye.
MY OPINION- Cute shot. I thought this was funny. Good job. |

This is a great portrait shot. Kid shots seem to loose a few points on DPC, but this one has that little extra element that I think will work wonders. The lighting is perfect, bringing rich color to the skin tones. 8 - Gotcha
He looks just like his dad, â€Â¦. â€Â¦ â€Â¦ (Must be the nose).

| Cute shot and a reasonably close portrait. Well taken subject, but the background is less than perfect (a lot less!) As the portrait is so very nice, I'll let it go, but you should be watching for that sort of thing. 8 Swash |

| Cute portrait, well lit, well exposed, well focussed, well framed. It's technically very good, and you deserve to be proud. It lacks a bit of interest for me personally, but still worth an objective 9 just for being so good! |

This is cute. The coloring, lighting and exposure are all good. The playful expression of the child is priceless.
The composition is cropped a little too tight, and the bg is distracting. Because of these two things it loses some points. I realize you probably had to seize the moment, but that makes it more of a snapshot than a "study" as I see it.
That late afternoon sun really casts wonderful color on the skin and hair. |

| When taking portraits pay special attention to your background! You have telephone wires coming out of his head, and a house growing out of his neck. This is a rather boring shot... but the focus is excellent. |

| I would have liked a bit more room around the subject here and perhaps a focus that blurred the background a bit. Nice lighting - no distracting shadows on the face. Good colors captured. Overall it doesn't hold my attention for much more than a glance though. = 6 |

| Nice candid shot. Colors are good, good use of fill flash to soften the shadows. You have good detail without blowing out any of the features with to much light. Well done. |

| A fun portrait and good use of magic-hour lighting. The only thing detracting from this image is the background, but since the subject fills most of the frame, it isn't too much of an issue. |

| Cute picutre. the background is however slightly distracting, if it was blurred a bit more it would have looked a bit better. the lighting isn\'t bad. The specs of dust on the dark shirt could have been avoided (darn spot editting rule). |

| Cute kid, and cute shot. I would have liked it better had the strong horizontal line (neck level) been horizontal, rather than have a right tilt. Neck level isn't really the best place for the horizontal line actually, it cuts his head right off. Maybe I would opt for a totally different background. However, the shot of the kid is nice and crisp. Great focus and clarity. Lighting is nice, and the angle on the kid is good as well. Good luck in the challenge. |
