Heck, if in the good old days DPC members could find enough to comment on about a photo like this, you should all try a bit harder and do the same for the entries in our current challenges. Read the tutorial if you don't know how to comment! ;-)

thela, that's 3. and comments are for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

one word: really bad photo

nice fan
04/21/2002 05:14:00 PM
Needs more interest
04/21/2002 04:30:00 PM
this is too good.
04/20/2002 04:15:00 PM
This has a snapshot feel to it. Taking the picture from a different angle, or focusing on a smaller area of the fan may have helped.
04/20/2002 12:38:00 PM
can't tell that its moving
04/20/2002 11:07:00 AM
I turned my fan off and got the same picture. When showing stopped motion your picture needs to still show that motion existed in the first place.
04/20/2002 08:51:00 AM
Hmm. As per your image, I think the fan should've been centered. As per the subject, I think you should've found somethign else to stop. :)
04/20/2002 03:49:00 AM
I wonder if you could have shot the photo from above the blades........just kidding.
04/19/2002 10:30:00 AM
A stopped motion should be of a subject that appears to be completely still and defies reality by being stil. Your subject doesn't lend well to this philosophy.
04/19/2002 01:32:00 AM
can't say if this is still life or stop action. not an easy challenge..
04/19/2002 12:39:00 AM
Was this moving? Can't tell.
04/18/2002 03:12:00 PM
What motion was stopped?
04/18/2002 02:27:00 PM
Different lighting or angle would have made this mre interesting. Have you gotten comments about how it doesn't look like it was moving? If so, consider it a compliment, that's what the challenge was for.
04/18/2002 01:41:00 PM
Good composition. Hard to tell if this is really stopped. Also, a bit blurry.
04/18/2002 11:51:00 AM
I tried this shot too and all I could think about was that the ceiling fan needed dusting. Good lighting on your fan and yours isn't dusty. You captured the stop action well.
04/18/2002 09:59:00 AM
Sorry, but I don't see very much action here.
04/18/2002 07:56:00 AM
ahhh - im nice and cool now!
04/18/2002 07:44:00 AM
The subject matter doesn't do much for me, sorry. How do I know the fan was on? Yes, I know the subject was stopped motion, but most other's had a photo where I know something actually was in motion.
04/18/2002 01:36:00 AM
How am I supposed to know that this fan is even turned on?
04/17/2002 11:27:00 PM
huh?
04/17/2002 11:23:00 PM
The subject really doesn't fill the potential in a topic like stopped challenge.
04/17/2002 05:24:00 PM
The lighting makes this feel very flat, and it's really hard to tell if the fan is on or not.
04/17/2002 09:52:00 AM
The fan WAS moving? Excellent stopped motion, good focus. Not visually exciting.
04/17/2002 03:51:00 AM
it looks stopped but its not quite sharp? - maybe focus thrown by reflective subject, needs preset focus on this type of subject.
04/17/2002 03:31:00 AM
can't tell if the fan was moving or not ... You may have found a more interesting angle by getting up on a ladder.
04/16/2002 08:40:00 PM
can't really tell if this is moving or not.
04/16/2002 12:45:00 PM
Too bad you didn't add something to show that the fan was in motion. Like coloured strings taped to the blades.
04/16/2002 03:13:00 AM
I know you stopped the motion on this, but it's one of those subjects that when stopped looks pretty normal. I do like the composition, though! Like a big asterix.
04/15/2002 06:41:00 PM
how do we know the fan is moving?
04/15/2002 04:49:00 PM
Sure!!!
04/15/2002 02:24:00 PM
I don't doubt that this fan was moving but it could be interpreted either way. In a situation like this, maybe tying streamers to the fan blades would have produced some dramatic indication of motion. Losing the fan blade in the right edge of the photo also reduced the overall impact of this shot.
04/15/2002 02:24:00 PM
Tough subject.
04/15/2002 01:45:00 PM
I thought about this one too, just wondered how anyone could really detect the motion?
04/15/2002 11:43:00 AM
How do we know the fan isn't just OFF.
04/15/2002 11:04:00 AM
Hard to believe this is really going! sure you turned it on?
04/15/2002 09:52:00 AM
I like the composition. Nothing tells me it's moving, though, and it could use more light.
04/15/2002 09:41:00 AM
It could be moving, it could be stopped. But is it ever interesting ?
04/15/2002 09:08:00 AM
OK, I'm going to assume the fan was turning and the flash froze it, but it looks like it's just turned off. Interesting composition though.
04/15/2002 08:56:00 AM
Good idea, I had the same one. Only you can't tell if it was actually even on.
04/15/2002 08:44:00 AM
I can see this was taken with the fan on:) The only thing is the cropping out of the blade. I would have tried a different angle *maybe*
04/15/2002 05:32:00 AM
this picture is slightly bland.. could use something to give it that little bit more..
04/15/2002 12:46:00 AM
You may have caught an excellent shot, but as I see no indication of motion here, I have to rate 1 for lack of fit to challenge.
