Some of you expressed interest on how I did this image. So here goes....

I filled a glass bowl with tap water colored with orange food coloring. Folded cling foil into two strips and draped them over the edges of the bowl to form an “X” in the middle. The lighting was one flash at the front to the right of the bowl and one flash to the left at the back.

It sounds easier than it was because I started with the letter “A” ;-) and worked my way through the alphabet before, at last, reaching the X ;-)) Did hundreds of shots. On the shot I eventually picked for the challenge, the front flash didn’t fire (go figure) which gave the image a darker look I liked a lot. After going through all the images I’d made, this was the one I liked best. The black speck in the middle towards the bottom really bothered me but I had to leave it in (basic editing).
The image was at 7.6 for while which didn’t do my blood pressure any good, I can tell you ;-))

Thanks SO much for the interesting comments and great score (and the ribbon!! WOOHOO!!)

Cling wrap is the BEST! I also used it to simulate water in a challenge entry. Marvelous concept and execution, Irene. Congrats on the matching ribbon.

Irene you're great!

Even with the explanation I needed a second and third look at the image... that's amazing!

I gave you a 9 :)

Congratulations, Irene. This is very pleasing to look at and I commend you on actually creating the letter. I thought it was toffee, so your notes are very interesting.

Any image that makes me wonder what it is compels me to comment. I'm THINKING this is two channels with water or some other liquid, but it almost looks like they are solidified in resin or something and static. Interesting capture.

Love the picture, but curious to how the effect was made in basic editing? Never seen anything like this before, but then again, I'm still pretty new to DPC.
