Hey, Congratulations!

I guess we both like to look our subjects right in the eyes... all thirty-thousand of them!

Great specimen! I have a really good image of a similar species myself. Unfortunately, I find this image lacking in tonal range and the critical focus is not on the EYES. Seems unsharp overall.

Nice subject; bad lighting, bad focus (focus on the eyes), depth of field is too shallow.

Comment:
This image has a lot of noise (grainy-looking) and is very lacking in color fidelity (range of tonal values like the grey scale below). Composition-wise, the problem is the grasshopper is looking away from us; it's a butt-shot! Move around to the front of the grasshopper next time and shoot from a slightly lower angle.

This is a very excellent, artsy-looking image, but those look like cicada EXOSKELETONS to me. How can you get intimate with a couple of hollow shells?

Very similar to some images of my own, but not ones that I like. I don't think that dragonflies look very good with their wings in that position. Wait for it to take off and land in that spot again with its wings out and you'll get a much better image. This species has very striking thorax coloration, but it's covered up by the wings. It's got that "droopy" look.

Great photo of a grasshopper. I've found grasshoppers to be rather easy subjects and not very challenging.

How is this getting intimate? It's dead, deceased, history, it's an ex-bug, it's no longer with us.

Depth of field is too shallow. Eyes aren't entirely sharp and in-focus.
