Would be better if the roof of the boat wasnt lost in the treeline.

You may not understand what you are doing, but you are doing it perfectly! See how you have reduced the leafy background to just a pattern, almost like a leopard skin, to contrast with the pattern of the tiger? See the lovely bright area on his cheek, matched by a smaller light area on his eye? First you catch the viewer with that cheek, lead him to the eye, then down the nose to the gentle smile, which points back to the lines in the cheek. A circle - keep the viewer looking around and around your photo and he will notice more and more of what you have created. The whiskers, that tigers have small ears, that the background is actually little leaves.

Don't you love how the whiskers stand out? This duotone is a very pleasing color. It is so easy to look at. I think the color choice helps the viewer to get lost in all those stripes. If you look at the zebras suddenly all you see id the pattern of the stripes, not the animal, particularly down where the legs asll blend together ans where the two zebras overlap each other.

Green = serene. Yes, that works. I also think this works especially well because it is reversed. We expect the trees to be green but they are white. the infared emphasizes the difference in texture between the leafy foliage and the smooth surface of the water. Interesting that the reflections of the light leaves are actually dark.

What IS it? I like the way the green reflects on his shirt and I like the color scheme, green and flesh, a contrast between human and alien? The shadow is cool too. What if you crop off his pants? Does that lower bit add anything? When I cover it up, the strong line of the arm and the shadow arm stand out more.

Your editing has added a lot of contrast. makes the poor dog look older. I dont think any amount of editing could make him attractive, he has one of those only-a-mother-could love faces. Perhaps I wish that some of the brown could have stayed, instead of turning so much to black and white. But it is a nice artsy portrait in the final edit.

I like the torquoise of the water but find it odd that the sky is the same color. Is there a way to make the sky bluer and the water cyaner. I do not understand selective color at all, it doesn't make any sense to me yet. I can see that it has done great things for your picture here, making an overcast city look so much sharper and more interesting. I especially like what it did to the black, the greens and to that lovely cloud reflection on the tall straight building. Are those boats in the foreground? I never pictured Chicago with boats. In fact I never pictured Chicago as anything but big and gray. Maybe I need to visit someday, you make it look so sparkly.

Eek - you turned the northwest cool rainforest into a tropical jungle. Feel that humidity? Even the sun is getting caught in the thickness of the air. There are probably snakes in here too. I'm going back to your cooler version.
