I like this photo! But not for this challenge! The dramatic lighting is here I think, but it's absorbed into this marvelous sky. It really isn't contributing to the image at all. I think you could eliminate most of the earth altogether and it will still be a very effective picture. As much as i like the shot, it's not good for this challenge. - Inspzil

I don't really like this photo. It's too well lit for a 'dramatically' lit photo IMO. The bat looks really fake. Its not focused well either. - Amendment 10/27 - After further review, I'll bump you up because it's a real bat, but the picture still doesn't do much for me. Plus you bothered to take the time to let me know that, which definitely counts for something in my book. - Inspzil

Very well done. I hope you aren't hearing it about DOF or focus. It's a terrific shot IMO. If you are getting those comments a lot, I'm sure it's from people who haven't done a lot of macros, especially not without much light, because that's tricky enough. Marvelous shot. Great use of lighting, great framing, great subject.... THIS is the dramatic that was asked for by the topic. It's so simple, but says so much. This is for me, the most powerful image I've seen on DPC. The title is great too and if you've kept up with all the hullaballoo in the forums dealing with titles, this one does exactly what it's supposed to do, help clarify some things without giving a long description of what's happening in the shot. Too bright. The rest of the shot is pretty good. I don't particularly care for the statuette, but that's only part of it. The lighting is not very dramatic, it's too even. - Good Luck anyway - Inspzil

This looks like a good commercial advertisement type picture. I don't think it's dramatically lit. It's nice and colorful, but way to bright. I'm not so sure this kind of subject would do real well dramatically lit. - Inspzil
