2.5 hour ride for me...I'd be interested, if the date works.
03/24/2007 11:20:56 AM · #27
Several of us up this way (Finger Lakes of NY) have been wanting to get down there this spring. It's about a 2 1/2 hour trip for us but if the date works maybe we could all ride down to meet.

Edit: Grammar

Just found a nice slideshow. One of the nicer ones I've found since researching the area. It shows many (all?) of the falls and includes pictures of the trail which I hadn't had much luck finding before.

Trumbull is the next town over from me. ;-)

Even better! I'm not going to be able to get up to the Finger Lakes region until Turkey Day. I keep wanting to meet you guys in person.

I have been there several times, and I love it! In the summer you can swim in the pools below the falls. I found going in the spring is best. The winter thaw sends alot of water down and the falls are very powerfull. I'm def. in!

I am working on it now. I am hoping for a weekend day in April.

Put me down as a definite maybe, too... obviously it would be helpful to have a date in mind! :) It's 4 1/2 hours, but I'd definitely do it if the date worked out!

I'm watching this one. I would love to join in, but it will be date dependent (sounds like a recurring theme).

I'm still interested as well. Any April weekend should be good for me.

I see some familiar faces interested from around where I live (finger lakes area - sharing rides will work great).. and from the number of people replying it looks like it will be a huge GTG...and a chance to meet some of the photographers I admire, seeing their work got me started on this amazing website, I cannot afford to miss it!!

Will pm Tony

That would be one of the warning signs details I'm watching for.

Ricketts is beautifull. I've made at least one trip a year for the past several.
The trails are not really that treacherous. I walk it with all of my equipment, and I have MS. Hell you'll see little kids walking it. That's not to say that there aren't some big drops. People have fallen and been seriously injured. A little common sense will go a long way.

After consulting with a few people, we want to try to have the NE PA GTG on April 15th. Our destination will be Rickett's Glen State Park.

Our plans are to meet in two groups. One from the North and one from the South.

People from the North can meet me at the Wyoming Valley Mall Parking Lot at 9am next to the Chile's Resturant.

People coming from the South can meet Spydr at the McDonalds at the Danville Exit off Interstate 80.

We can then go in two groups to Rickett's Glen. We should be there at 10am, so people can go to the Park if they know where it is.

I will PM anyone who PM'ed with this information and I hope it accomidates as many people as possible.

That'll work for me! Sunday is open for me (the 15th), so that's cool!

Are we meeting our designated group at 10:00, or are we trying to get to he park by 10:00?

More than likely I'll be there. Of course you would pick the ONE weekend out of the year that my relatives in Altoona will be away. :-/

I really figured you guys would pick a Saturday and I wouldn't be able to attend (gotta love retail hours). But I can do a Sunday. I'll have to leave Altoona around 6:30 AM (which is earlier than God intended us to be out and about), but as it stands now, I'm gonna make it.
