 Went out to take some shots of the ducks at a pond near where I was staying over the holidays and wanted to try out the new camera, really happy with results so far. This was a shot taken in the early morning, the weather was extremely cold causing a beautiful mist over the pond. Shot was taken towards the direction of the sun and the mist cleared slightly around the tree giving it a nice effect. Processing was mostly changing the white balance and adding some contract.


OMG, this is unbelievable, got my 7 and a Blue in FS, I am at a loss.... First entry with the new camera and wow its gonna be hard to top.

I almost pulled this one out in favor of another shot that I thought would score better but I really liked this one which is normally a kiss of death, sure glad I did not pull it. I am saving the other shot for a year end challenge so hopefully get to see how it may have done but pretty sure not as well as this one. Thanks again for all the great comments and favs, you all made my year!

I just realized I got the top spot and the first ribbon for this camera body, what an honor, probably lose the top spot but can never lose the first ribbon honor which is kind of cool.

They are all real ducks, this pond must of had 500 assorted ducks and geese. Temperature was right at 0 degrees F and the water was warm enough that it created it's own fog.

I did not expect a ribbon was just hoping to keep the 7, only had a 7 one other time and I had the date on my camera set wrong so getting a 7 was a goal of mine but I never expected to get a ribbon more less the Blue. Thanks!

This was a favorite on my first run-through and remained so. I just love the mist, the faint shapes of the sleeping ducks, the frost on the branches. Brrrrr. Great mood. Voted earlier. 9
