 Wow ! thanks for all your votes and comments, it's been a goal of mine to win a free study here for a good few years so i'm thrilled to bits to have finally done it ! :-D
I've had a secret personal challenge of setting the highest score for an image taken with the 450d which is now getting a bit old n tired tbh and have finally done that too, so might end up retiring it n getting a new body !
This was taken with the intention of entering it into the hdr challenge last month but was too busy to enter it.

On the drive to the lighthouse the sky was gray, flat and it was pouring with rain, actually thought it would be a complete washout and a wasted trip ! so to be treated to a glorious sunset was a real treat :-)
Shot was handheld with the camera very low to the water, so tripod was out of the question. Chose an aperture of f5.6 and iso 200 to give me a shutter speed of 1/50 it's always a balancing act with the canon as increasing the iso results in considerable noise.

As a disgruntled fellow contestant I'd say, yes, nice, but so overdressed. It's like you don't trust the audience to accept a less glossy version of what, undoubtedly, is a very impressive scene.

Congrats on the Blue in the FS. You should be wise about the Camera. How on earth will you now justify with the wife you need a new Camera.. ;)
Either way with a score of 7.5+ there was no question where this image will find it's home

Woooohhoooooo thrilled to bits ! can't believe finally got a blue in a freestudy :-D this has brought a few personal challenges together for me - to win a free study, set the highest score with the canon 450d, a new personal best :-) top 16 images taken with this lens :-) and of course its always absolutely mega to beat Hesitant in any challenge ;-P he doesn't make that easy either !

Another light house!?! And yes, this is done extremely well. Love the soft colors. The reflection almost gives this a tilt/shift effect.

Great image and should do really well.
Something just seems to be wrong with the rock / sky on the left - like bad chromatic aberration and the rocks are soft like they weren't sharpened enough. Perhaps your focal distance was too far away (like on the lighthouse) and didn't use the hyperfocal distance?
Still a great shot though.
