very cool shot. how would it have looked in portrait format? maybe better, maybe not. it's in my top10 this week anyway. -- gr8photos (9)

Wow. This is good. Would it have been better with a vertical shot?
07/21/2002 07:21:00 PM
A very nice shot. The only way I think it MIGHT be improved is if the match were over to the left so that the flame and smoke were going into the picture, and it didn't have an open space.

I would like to see this in color. Clean shot though.7

very interesting, feels like a Mappplethorpe portriat of flowers, but constructed very different.
07/21/2002 11:07:00 AM
Great b/w. Awesome capture of the subject.
07/20/2002 11:30:00 AM
Great timing! How many tries did it take to get the right moment?
07/19/2002 03:48:00 PM
how many matches did u use up to get this? part of me wants to see the match head and sparking a bit closer but i love the shape of the smoke and fire. nice job.

This is a great capture. I think it would be improved if the stick was on one of the third lines, possibly the right one. Another possiblity would be to turn the camera 90 degrees
07/19/2002 08:01:00 AM
WHOA... nicely done! I'm guessing this took some patience to get the shot right
07/19/2002 06:42:00 AM
Good timing. I'd like to be able to see the match head in more detail.
07/19/2002 01:10:00 AM
Great stop-action; love your title.

Wow! Beautiful shot! Very striking! (I know, bad pun - but I didn't even notice until after I typed it).
07/17/2002 02:08:00 PM
Great! The smoke and contrast is perfect!
07/17/2002 01:46:00 PM
good picture. I might have preferred this in color. AFter the challenge, maybe you could post it both ways so we can see.
07/17/2002 10:49:00 AM

07/17/2002 09:05:00 AM

good capture
07/16/2002 08:54:00 PM
good exposure. I bet this would be better in color.
07/16/2002 06:11:00 PM

07/16/2002 04:34:00 PM

07/16/2002 03:44:00 PM

Rather beautiful in a whimsical way
07/16/2002 08:35:00 AM
Very interesting to look at. My mind starts looking for shapes - like Inkdot therapy! - and I immediately 'see' the image of a ghostly lady! Ok, call me wierd, but... you asked! ;-)
07/16/2002 02:25:00 AM
This is really cool. I love the whispy smoke and the dancing flame. Great contrast and form.
07/16/2002 12:45:00 AM
I admit, I love fire... however the B&W kinda detracts a little...
07/15/2002 08:18:00 PM
Wish I could figure out what it is so I would know what I was enjoying!

framing is off and maybe better in color. 5
07/15/2002 03:09:00 PM
Very cool shot. Great timing! You must have used the match stick itself as your wick/timer. Very clever. (did it look "bad" in color?) 9 Swash
