not really sure what this is. I assume the reflections are pencils. so in that matter, I assume it meets the challenge. great effects though and lighting, color and angle are great. frame placement is very nice. good luck in the challenge. |

This looks like pencils placed parallel and stuck together with clear RTV and some type of liquid between them which reflects something colorful above. The image in lower left appears to be laughing which is probably what you are doing while thinking of us jerks trying to figure out this nonsense. I don't like it at all cause I can't tell what it is but I score you an 8 for the colorfulness of it and it is focused well. Those are pencils aren't they? If not-----a 1 for you. |

9. If I could identify the pencils more, I'd have given you a 10. Beautiful reflection - what is it? |

For me it is tough to tell there is a pencil here, but, guessing that is what is sectioning things here, it is a very good image. |

Great pattern. Watch your depth of field - lack of sharpness at the bottom distracts. |

Interesting. Focus seems a bit soft on the lower left corner. Lighting is good. Meets the challenge. |

This is a great photo... I really love the color and 'abstract' nature of the image. My problem is that I can't tell that these diagonal items are really pencils. I would love to here more about what I'm looking at in this image... good work :) - jmsetzler |

Awesome! I love the colours in this one. Great abstract. The juxtaposition of the straight pencils and swirly shapes in the reflections is really cool. |

Looks interesting but I don't see the pencil, I'll assume that what forming the diving lines. I like the blacks and blues together but the orange looks out of place. I'm one of those anal people who like to know what I'm looking at, sorry. I do have to give you points for creativity. |

Very intersting picture. I like very much these melted colours. However, I am afraid, I can't see the pencil. Anyway, it's a 7 |

I love this, I love the reflections, the colour, what looks like capillary action where the liquid clings to the pencils. I think it's a great shot and not sure I would change anything. It's an 8 because there happen to be a small number of shots I like even better, but I do think this is superb. 8, Kavey |

I don't know what this is but, it really works.....uh....dances, I mean..... Maybe you would do a "how'd they do that" when this competition ends. I, for one, would really like to know. =7 syamjonimi |

Sorry - I can't rate it because I can't identify it, where is the pencil? its not a strong enough image to stand alone as an abstraction. What is it? |

this is a very cool abstract, the diagonal lines are great and the different curves in the reflections, too. almost looks like mercury. having said that, i'm having a hard time figuring out where the pencil is (i'm probably just totally and utterly blind, and i apologize in that case). the dividers aren't it (i don't think). is it in the reflection? as i said, i like the photo, but i'm stumped as to how it fits the challenge, so i will be voting you low. sorry. -- gr8photos (2) |

UPDATE: I've been thinking about this photo all week. Every time I think about the challenge, this photo comes to mind. For that you deserve a ten. I've changed your score to such. I only hope that people see the pencils and you don't get scored down for their ambiguity. Great Job. Oh, and I still wanna know what I'm looking at -- mercury, candle wax, funhouse mirror? 10 (My only one for the week.)
ORIGINAL COMMENT: I can't clearly see that those yellow things are pencils, but I'm taking your word for it because I like the rest of the photo so darned much. The movement, the depth, the colors are all beautiful -- now do tell: What AM I looking at? 9 |
