 The Image: Well, we don't really do Thanksgiving here in Australia, which is sad, so I took an early morning image. Food is one of my favourite forms of photography, yet I have done so poorly with it on dpc. Try, try again...Some people might recognise this as mine as I have used this set up before...

Shot this using daylight and a 50mm f1.8 lens.

I treated our dog Millie with the meat...she was ecstatic!

The Edit: USM, colour balance, a gaussian blur adjustment layer, some d and b and sharpening, a Noise Reduction Layer...I just wanted to massage this image to make it punchy...

The Prediction: No prediction...I have been really poor in the second half of this year, so no guesses from me

Could it possibly be that I will do well with a food photograph???!!! Currently 6.95XX, and looking good for a ribbon...lots of comments, so hopefully everyone is hungry

POST: FINALLY I do well with a food image! It's an image I am proud of, so thanks everyone!

ONE MORE THING: That's a glass of beer and some Extra Virgin Olive Oil at the back...

AND ONE MORE THING AGAIN: FEEDING THIS TO MY DOG... Well, over here in Australia, lamb is reasonably cheap most of the time. These were a few leftover pieces from a bulk pack, and it was right on the use by date, so I spoilt Millie. We were going on holidays and were going to be away, so she deserved a treat. These chops cost about $7AUD ($5USD)

I get the impression some thought you feeding it to Millie was somehow wasteful. I don't agree with that at all, she did deserve a treat :-) it certainly would have been wasteful to just throw it away.

And she's a lovely dog, btw. Bichon Frise?

Hey Enzo, congratulations on the ribbon and a fine photo! The colours are outstanding and it looks incredibly tempting - lucky dog...
Now seriously, how do you pick up lamb cutlets for so little down there? Up here they're hideously expensive - $30 a kilo, sometimes more - but I guess our bananas are cheaper than yours ;-)

Way to go Enzo. Congratulations on the blue ribbon... I was sure that this Speed Challenge would go to someone with a Thanks Giving photo... but alas, I forgot about the calibre of the local (i.e. Australian) talent. Well, done.

Ultimately, I hate you. Now I am hungry. Thanks. I am probably going to go eat now. Again. Then I will have to choose: get fat, or work out. Well, I don't feel like working out, and I dont feel like being fat. So that is my dilemma. And it is all your fault. I hope you feel some sort of satisfaction out of all of this, because I don't.

you give your dog grilled lamb?! My gawd, man, send it to me next time - I love lamb! Geez! You Aussies are crazy! :-)

I gave this shot a 10 and knew it'd be here on the front page. Makes me hungry just looking at it all over again...and you gave those chops to a dog...

lol .. well apparently the dpc ppl like this type'v food better than artichoke hearts .. !!!
and OMG feeding this to your dog .. well i gotta say, if i'd been there i would'v been fighting her for it .. you certainly excel at food photography, altho your night shots are spectactular as well .. hmmmm .. scenery tick that off too and ppl, well you seem to reach in and pull out their very soul .. i could go on, but i dont want to give you a swelled head ... lol ..

Congrats!

Your breakfast shot with the pancakes and blueberries has been a favorite of mine since I can remember (10/30/06). Whenever I set up a food shot I think of it and refer to it as my inspiration. I've referred it to others to show them how food shots are meant to be done.

Crisp clean, straight into your face sharpness and clean cut lines. DOF is great, the glaze of the chops are brought out against the roughness of the napkin. The silky smoothness of the tomatoes against the spikiness of the rosemary work so well. Fabulous choice in colours here You are definelty left handed as well 10

This looks delicious and the colors are wonderful. I'm not crazy about the distracting glasses of liquid in the background. IMO the colour of the liquid clashes with the wonderful colors of the rest (hope you don't mind a touch of criticism ;-)

Is this an Enzo special I see before me? It certainly has all the hallmarks of one, the lovely DOF, the thoughtful use of props, and the amazing-looking food! It takes a lot for me to lick my lips at lamb (not my favourite meat) which gives you an idea of how nice this looks.

Sara and I will be round at eight for dinner if that's OK? ;-)

a great food shot, I like the saturation of colors, the on;y thing I might have changed would be the glasses. They dont look as refined as the meal itself.
