 A Nicobar pigeon: the only member of the Caloenas genus in the Columbidae family of the Columbiformes order. The color was amazingly vivd. This little guy was perched under a waterfall I cropped out on the left side, so that's why there's water droplets all over the feathers.

WOW! Didn't expect a ribbon with that one, and I had to drive to another state to see the result. Since Irene came through, my whole area has been plagued with major power outages, and I may not have electricity for at least several more days.

I came back 5 times to leave a comment and I can't .. I am speechless - there are no words to describe how unusually beautiful this photograph is. My hubby thanks you for rendering me speechless and sez he is going to print this photo and put it all over the house to maintain the serenity. Congratulations.

Yup, f/4. The DOF was only a few inches at about 15 feet away.
