this has had a pretty bumpy ride .. fairly ordinary at 10 votes and a 4.3333 ..
but i'm totally thrilled this morning 5 hours before rollover with a score of 7.2446 .. oh .. just went down .. 7.2340 .. !!..
but i havent shot any insects for nearly a year .. saw a gorgeous little blue damselfly in the grass the day before I got this shot but didnt have the camera with me and had to go out ..
so the next day i took the camera into the grass .. early morning .. had rained during the night and there was mist/dew .. saw this robberfly perched as you see him here .. took three photographs and then he flew to another stalk of grass .. got a few shots there .. he moved again .. got more shots .. none worked like this one .. i couldnt believe that the droplet and his eye and foot/leg all were in the same focal plane or wotever its called .. all in perfect focus .. his thorax wasn’t in focus so I focus stacked that in from another of the shots I took ..

never dreamed this would get the blue .. my first blue in a free study ...

for giles Giles_uk ..
used a 36mm kenko extension tube with the 100mm lens ..
you can buy the kenko extension tubes in a set of three .. 12mm .. 20mm and 36mm .. and use them in different combinations depending on the magnification that you want ..

You're back! Woo hoo. Ok this is so typical "Roz" quality. Either way magical macro of a robber-fly. I'm always sceptical of water drops on flowers, bugs etc but I am certain this is a "Roz" taken in the lawn morning grass dew and she has integrity. 9
