 A self portrait.

I took up the upright (doghouse) bass a few years ago in order to play blues, and it has been a conduit into a much deeper appreciation for music and music making.

I set up the shot an a small tripod with remote and asked my wife to push the trigger. Incidently, this is also my first HDR, and though it seems like a rehash of my recent pet/people entry, it's very similar to a photo I took a few years ago with my old P&S that I've been meaning to re-do.

Hey, thanks for all the well-wishes! I love that!

mcaldo: it IS a pickup, a "realist" if you're in the market for such things. It's a little prone to feedback, but almost all of them are. Overall, I've been very happy with it and would recommend it.

bassbone: I toyed with changing where I was looking, but it didn't seem to work as well for me... that and I'm not a very good model :)

Self portrait too? Nice! I find them very tough to frame pictures well. Nice work!

Very good finish for this one. Congrats! I like that the realness of this but I wonder if having you not look at the camera could have worked even better....
