The flash you used is what really hurts this shot. The closest end of the table is in very harsh light edged by a hard shadow, and the furthest end is too dark. A longer exposure using natural light may have worked much better.

Not much here to really make an impact on the viewer. This seems more like a photo you would use to try to sell this item.

The shadows are really distracting. If you were to move the chair further away from the wall, you would not see them.

This photo does not really make a lasting impression on the viewer. This would be the type of photo I would expect to see on E-bay if you were trying to sell this item.

Hello from the Critique Club!

My first impression is that this would be a wonderful advertisement for the Museum! The quote is a perfect match for the pose of the Father and daughter. He looks as if he is explaining something to her, and she is looking in awe at something she has seen for the first time. A very impacting photo and a wonderful capture.

I like how the two people are traveling against the lines formed by the quote and the floor tiles. It pulls your eye right to them.

One thing that does bother me is the lighting around the quote. It looks as if you had dodged the tiles around it. The lighting does put attention on the quote, but it seems over done. If this is the natural result, I might have tried to tone it down some.

Overall this is very striking photo and is beautiful in it's simplicity. And congrats on your highest scoring entry to date!

Hello from the Critique Club!

My first impression is that this is going to be a hard critique. :-)

There really is nothing that I can immediately spot as a flaw here.

I like the leading lines created here that draw your attention to the older pedestrian. Both the curb, and the horizontal lines in the building draw your eye to the upper right corner of the image the the focal point of the older man. This is also enhanced by the direction the younger person is looking.

I think you did a wonderful job on the B&W conversion. I like the overall contrast and especially between the man's coat and the rest of the photo. Looking at the comments you received, it seems like you are either a fan of this style or not. You can count me as a fan.

I think you have oversaturated the red here. Her eyes don't look natural with the pink cast to them.
