The words themselves look like they've been there awhile. Could you have interpreted a piece of modern art in with this photo? Maybe this IS a piece of modern art. Who am I to judge when I wasn't there. However if it is, a wider shot of it would have made a larger impact so we could view more of the subject we are looking at. I have to have a high appreciation for the brindle marble, That's my Dad's business. I've seen lots and lots of marble in my day and this is one of the prettiest colors I've seen in awhile. You did a great job of keeping reflection off the surface and caught it at an angle that it's not too dark either. Good luck in the challenge. |
| 08/15/2002 02:55:00 AM | Secret 'Little Something'by BNCComment: Not much of a secret anymore is it? Sorry, it had to be said. I like the background in relation to the color of the bag and I like the layout of the nighty coming out of the bag. Really crisp paper could give the over all picture a better feel of newness. Not really realisticness...but definately newness. I like the flow of the background in relation to the flow of the nighty as well. Seems to flow in the same direction. Don't know if you did that on purpose or not, but it is visually interesting. Great job and good luck on the challenge. |
| 08/18/2002 03:09:00 PM | the newest dragonby heartsdivideComment: I have been pondering this photo all week. I decided that I generally like it. I like the placement although the chain should be totally in the photo rather than sneak off the top. That's no big deal though. i like the subject, it's pleasing to look at. The only major thing I noticed is the lighting. It is lit in such a way that in some places it looks gold and in some it looks silver. If it's gold, then the light shining on it makes it look silver, and if it's silver, then something is reflecting on it making it look gold. I don't know what you could do about this though. Maybe someone with some better knowledge of lighting can suggest something. The only thing that comes to mind is to bounce the light, or put something like a thin cloth between the light source and the necklace to kind of make the light a little more mellow. Great idea, and good luck in the challenge. |
| 08/15/2002 02:48:00 AM | Cherry Tomatoesby shedonistComment: I love the focus on the front tomato. Great detail with that fuzzy stem. The water is a cool effect, but may be a little distracting from the tomato. I look at it and automatically look down to the water, only to see the distorted image of the pole in the background. My eyes then follow the actual pole in the background right off the picture, and then I'm not looking at the "something new" anymore. The pole definately bothers me, but you have still captured a really great photo here. And there is definately newness. Maybe try that "rule of thirds" everyone is talking about. Not sure how it works, but heard that it's visually appealing. Great job and good luck with the challenge. |

I like the background, there is shadow, but not overwhelming shadow. Great focus, overall nice photo. Good luck in the challenge. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/18/2002 03:52:00 PM | Daddy's Shiny New Toy / Don't Tell Mommyby JackoComment: I have to wonder where this photo was taken. The grass is so odd. Unless it was taken at a golf course, then that explains it, cause they have funny grass there. I love the reflection in the club. Definately looks new. Possibly not even used once. The angle is great, lighting if great. Excelent photo. Good luck in the challenge. |
| 08/18/2002 03:21:00 PM | Hangin' Out With The Guy Who Puts Fresh Paint On The Golden Gate Bridgeby sjgleahComment: I have no idea how you managed to get this picutre, but it is great. I guess I didn't know it was that red. the lighting is great, no disturbing shadows or bright spots. Great angle. Definately something new. Funny how they don't make him wear a mask or anything to protect him from paint fumes. Anyway great shot and good luck with the challenge. |
| 08/18/2002 12:55:00 PM | New Challengesby iggy386Comment: Going to college. There is nothing else in the world that will compare to that feeling. Definately a new experience. Subject is great, lighting is great. I wish there was a bit sharper focus, however it doesn't take away from the photo. The pencils and pens seem a bit cluttered, but then again, that may just add to the new experience as being a bit confusing. I like how you included the student ID in there. Nice photo, good luck with the challenge. |
| 08/17/2002 08:05:00 PM | New Life or New Omelette?by annelizabethComment: Very clever, I like how the inside of the egg is lit up too. How many eggs did you break into a million pieces trying to get this shot? lol. Eggs and I do not get along well. The lighting and angle are great. Nice shot and good luck in the challenge. |
| 08/17/2002 02:53:00 PM | New Haircut!by KonadorComment: The lighting is a little weird on this one. the subject is all about the new haircut, but you can't really see much hair. the idea is great, and I like how the scissors are shiny. The angle is good. Good luck with the challenge. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
