I like how you have the first one in focus and the rest in the background. Since I have never seen these before, I can only take your word for it that they are something new. These would have looked good in the "red" challenge too. Nice shot and good luck in the challenge. |
| 08/12/2002 01:45:00 AM | Tiny Toesby aguerraComment: This is really cute. The lighting is a little bright around the toes, and I would love to see the difference of the black and white and the color. I like your photo. Congrats and good luck. |
| 08/13/2002 10:16:00 PM | Taking The Lead by autoolComment: I really like this due to the fact that I can't figure out if it was staged to look that way, or if for some freak of nature, it ended up growing that way, and how did you find it if it naturally grew that way. Very clever and a great depiction of something new. Excelent job! Congrats and good luck. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/17/2002 11:57:00 PM | Computer Problemsby AquaGoddess12880Comment: I can see the newness. It's definately new. Did you chose that lighting on purpose? Looks over brightened and looks like the color has been altered dramatically. However, I don't know what the original box looks like, so I guess it's not fair of me to just assume that. Maybe a better background might make this a bit more exciting. You kind of lose the top of the box into the background. The clarity is good, I like how you can read all the words. Good luck with the challenge. |
| 08/18/2002 05:18:00 PM | New Doc Clockby darylbrownComment: I like your new clock. The lighting on it is really cool and you were able to capture it nicely. Looks like an ad for the company. I think it would have a higher visual impact if it were either centered exactly (movied to the right a slight bit) or if it were all the way to one side or the other. Over all very nice photo. Good luck with the challenge. |
| 08/15/2002 02:16:00 AM | Needful Thingsby jmsetzlerComment: This one touched upon a personal note with me. i absolutely hate best buy. lol. I went in there intending to spend like $2000. and they told me that I couldnt make the purchace, but the gentleman that was with me could make it for me. I am 23 years old. If I were like 10 maybe I would understand. ANYWAY... so I just pictured circuit city in there instead and gave you a high rating!! :) You captured this great and the focus is supurb. Great job and good luck in the challenge. |
| 08/15/2002 01:16:00 PM | I Want a New Life....Please!by MartinComment: I understand the title...but the gorilla isn't new, nor does the photo contain anything new. Only the suggestion that he WANTS something new. The feeling here is sadness, or sleepiness, not newness. Setting that aside, it looks like the photo was taken through glass. It is a nice photo of a gorilla, and think that it should be tried for a different challenge, but it's a stretch on weather or not it meets "something new" . |
| 08/14/2002 12:31:00 AM | New Forms For Rosy Futures!by JakComment: I'm crushed... this is the closest thing we got to nipples this week. I'm not sure I get the use of the word rosy in the title, but I think it has some reference to the shape of boobs. Think this would be a really cool "curves" entry. Would have like it better if it were a little clearer, at least so we could make out something on the tags. I see the "new" reference, pretty neat photo. Good luck with the challenge. |
| 08/16/2002 11:18:00 AM | Steps away from finishing.......by JeanComment: You have a great idea here. I am a really huge fan of black and white, but I think I might have needed some color here. I can't tell if I'm looking at rough plaster, or concrete. My eyes are automatically drawn to the right wall because of the way the boots are facing, so that's why that stands out at me. To me, the window doesn't seem to be the kind of window that would be installed into a new hosue, but I've been wrong before. It doesn't seem like a window that would keep the cold out in the winter. My reasoning behind this is probably only influenced by my location which is known for it's really cold winters. Just as if I were to see a house with a flat roof instead of a peak. I like the photo and think that the idea behind it gets the point across. Congrats and good luck in the challenge. |
| 08/15/2002 12:31:00 PM | Extensionby zacowacoComment: To me, this is visually unapealing. with all the flat white, the focus seems to be the dark part of the building. that's where my eyes are drawn, to the dark part of the building, and that part looks very old. however, in comparison, the dark part makes the white part look new, which is what I think was the message you were trying to come across with. however, being as that my eyes are firstly drawn to the old part of the building, that's what I see first and the image I get is old, not new. |
