 Model: the very talented and lovely Veronica Alicino (she of the glorious gams) and her very recent rescue, Louie. I had the honor of being the first "stranger" Louie has met since being adopted last week.

This is also the first shoot where I was seriously concerned that I would NOT get my shot. Louie - probably abused or neglected in his former home - would come nowhere near me, and fled from any room I was in. I was beginning to despair of getting him in any shot at ALL until Veronica casually mentioned that oddly, he was calmer on the leash. She brought it out, put it on, and Louie quietly padded onto the set. I took about 10 shots and knew I had it.

Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow!!!! This has been the best month EVER!!! I seriously didn't think the score would land the image on the podium, but here it is!! This is the second time I'm on the front page twice, in one month - a true Christmas miracle :-) Thank you all for such great comments, and your generous votes.

@ Katie - This is NOT the same gal as the cat image.

@ briantammy, this is a two light setup, with a strobe camera left at 90 degrees to the wall (lighting the wall and dog), and one strobe to camera right at a slight angle (lighting legs and dog.

Oh, and thank you all who pointed out the typo in my original title :-)

Congratulations, Johanna. Very nice shot. The dog stole the show for me, but I'll bet at least 50% of viewers couldn't go past the legs!

I'd have maybe cropped down from the top just a smidge, to lose that sliver of leg. Otherwise, I really like this; very amusing and nicely shot, what an adorable dog. Good light too.

Striking photo and well processed. I love the expression on the dog :) The only tiny nitpick I have is where the image is cropped at the top... a fraction more or less leg might have looked better? 9 from me.
