Out with the old, in with the new

I found this funny, and the angle is really cool with the brush in the background like that, but my dad had dentures when I was really little and he used to make me go and put them in the glass and that's what this photo reminds me of. Not really a pleasing subject matter for me, but it very nicely executed. The clearest most focused object in the photo seems to be the window reflection in the glass. The edges of the teeth themselves are kind of fuzzy, where the edges of the window reflection are nice and crisp. Also there is a rather distracting colorful reflection to the left of the photo right above your rear molars. Creativity ranks high, angle ranks high, appeal ranks pretty low (sorry, I know it's personal, but hey...some people don't like puppies and flowers either) and the distraction of the numerous reflections is well...distracting. I'm mixed on this photo, but the cleverness has persuaded me to give this a higher rating, even though dentures will totally freak me out for the rest of my life. Thanks for the subtle humor and relived fear of dentures. lol Good luck with the challenge.

Tomorrow's Lemonade

Without the title, this would be just another picture of flowers to me. I am assuming that this is a lemon tree? I've never seen one before, so please forgive my ignorance. Setting that aside, the lighting is beautiful on this and the contrast of the colors to the green background is great. There are no funky shadows or bright spots, so this in an overall nice photo. Thanks for the view of the lemon tree (IF I'm right in assuming that's what this is) Good luck in the challenge.

A Bright Future

I am a bit confused on what the central focus is suposed to be. The car or the girl. If it's the girl (which is my first choice) I think that she should be in the picture a bit more. Is she going to school? Is that how she is having a "bright future". Just because I don't understand it, doesn't mean that someone else doesn't though. I wasn't there, so I'm not getting the feel of the photo. I think this is a personal meaning photo. I think the main focus is suposed to be the girl, but the lighting and the focal point seem to draw me to the trunk of the car. I was thinking that this could be her new car, but she doesn't look handicapped. I guess I just have too many questions about this photo. I am keeping into consideration that I'm missing something obvious. And if this is the case, I'm very sorry. Someone said they didn't get my photo too, and I myself thought that it was very obvious. This photo makes me want to see this structure in person. Like it could be in a flier advertising the place. Hope you let us know what kind of place it is. Very odd. Definately original, lighting is good. There is nothing you can do about the reflections, so I'm not even going to comment on them. Great job centering the center thing. Good luck in the challenge.

Gathering Storm

Is the idea behing this that it's a "new storm"? I like the location of this. Nice with the leaves to the left, and the horizon like that. The horizon is a bit crooked in relation to the edge of the photo. You could tilt it a slight bit to the right and be just fine. I like the natural grey-ish blues. Good luck in the challenge.

I think I would have liked this better with a solid colored background (new shoes in a store are usually on a solid colored background) also, maybe if the rest of the shoe were int he photo it would be more impactful. I like the idea of taking the photo from the front instead of the traditional side shot, and I realize that you were trying to focus on the REEBOK, but reebok isn't what is new, it's the shoe, so there is my reasoning for getting the whole shoe in the shot. Same angle, solid background, but the whole shoe. Plus, I really like the look of new shoe laces. Maybe I'm just a freak, but new laces with those little plastic tips (they're called egglets, by the way) would really help to portray this as new...cause you can TELL when laces are new, or if they've been worn. Anyway, this is a good idea, just a few more visual effects would make it more lively. Congrats and good luck in the challenge.

I was suprised at the amount of tomatoes in the challenge. Aparently it's tomoato season somewhere. :) I love the detail in this with the hairy little stems. Great shot. Definately depict something new. Good luck with the challenge.

To me, this looks like a clam. Although the clam it's self probably isn't new, it IS however probably new to this boy. It's a new discovery. Your lighting is great and the background fits nicely. I wish the focus were a bit sharper, but I don't think anything is lost by the fact that it's not 100% perfect. Besides, if your camera is anything like mine, perfect focus is not an option. LOL. I like this shot. Good luck with the challenge.

This is a pretty good close up, and maybe I don't see the personal meaning of "something old" in the picture, but to me, the eye seems like a young eye. It doesn't seem old at all. Young and full of vibrance. But it IS a good shot.

I really really like this photo. I like how it's lit, and I like the way it was shot. However, in the challenge, it said to use photographing tecnique to make the object look old. When I think of old, bright and shiny doesn't come to mind orriginally. The object may BE old, but here it doesn't LOOK old. I don't know if that makes much sense. I met you a bit better than half on the score cause this is such a great photo. Hey. Maybe you could try something like this again in the something new challenge. It has GREAT affect.
