threeby FranziskaLangComment: Simple but very nice. The clarity is great on those tips. I like how it fades away with the green one in the back. Lighting is great and the colors are very nice. I was kind of wondering though, why you used 2 primary colors and 1 secondary color? yellow, red and blue would be the logical combination of colors, but maybe how you have it, it was a better visual combination. I wasn't saying it was a bad thing, just wondering if you did it that way on purpose or not. Great photo and good luck in the challenge. |

Poo Mooby MagsCoyoteComment: This is a very strange photo. I would like to have seen this at a different angle with less stuff in the background. the angle this was taken at, makes it kind of hard to tell exactly what we are looking at with the spot where the pencil goes in at isblending in with the black spot on the cow. lighting is ok. there is a glare on the photo in the back left and on the table right in front. otherwise, humor factor is high. good luck in the challenge. |

ferruleby just-marriedComment: FERULE : A rod or stick used for punishing children. FERRULE: A metal ring or cap strengthening the end of a stick or tube. Which one were you refering to?? LMAO. Guess it could be either one. We got a really good laugh out of this, seeing as that my mom is a teacher. Pencils do in a way punish children, and this is definately a metal ring or cap. No pun intended. Or was it?? Great photo. A bit dark, but probably nessasary to keep from having a really distracting bright spot. Great job and good luck in the challenge. |

Leaden Smolders Above the Restby karmatComment: Pencils. Definately a lot of pencils. Great photo. You captured the flame nicely. You wouldn't want to see my attempt at photographing fire. I like how the pencils are lined up. repetition always catches my eye. lighting is good. there might be a tad bit of glare on the erasers in the front, but not enough to really distract from the photo. overall a great job. Good luck in the challenge. |

Angelby BAMartinComment: That worked out perfectly, didn't it? I would like to see it with the little cherub moved down just a slight bit so as to not cut off the top of his head and wing. The wing looks a bit dark, but since the other shadows are so mellow, I am led to believe that that is due to the actual color of the wing, and not a lighting effect. Otherwise, great photo. Good luck in the challenge. |

The Pencil That Wasby fas-ligandComment: You could take the lead out of the middles and string them all onto a rope and you would have a really cool pencil snake. I like how there is a soft focus on the pencil and the (it looks like a dremel or rotozip) tool is crips and sharp looking. What is the bigger shadow in the back of the photo to the left of the pencil? If the shadow could be avoided, that would be cool, but if not, it doesn't take anything away from the photo. Really neat idea. Good luck in the challenge. |

Lunchby millerComment: Pencils. Does a body good. Set up is great. I like the creativity here. Lighting is good, however the bread to the right side is a little bright. Not overly bright, but I wouldn't want it any brighter. Reflections in the plate and fork are subtle enough that they aren't distracting. The angle is ok. I'd like to see it at a more flat angle also for comparrison, but then again, it might be a bit boring and plain at a flatter angle. Great job and good luck in the challenge. |

Shadow and Lightby LanSnakeComment: Realizing that this photo is called shadows and light, I will only say that excessive shadow and bright spots don't appeal to me, however, for your purpose, you did a very good job with it. I love the angle of this and how the pencil kind of jumps up and smacks us in the face. great focus and overall nice photo. Good luck with the challenge. |

The Endby tomlewis1980Comment: I like the color here on the white background. The angle is good and the point is clear. (no pun intended) The lighting is good, there are no distracting shadows, however there is quite a glare on the pencil. This could have been decreased a bit by placing a thin cloth or thin paper between the light source and the subject. Nice job and good luck with the challenge. |

Pencil-Necked Geekby ClubJuggleComment: Where on earth did you get those tiny little glasses? lol. Definatly gotta give you credit for creativity and originality. At first, I was thinking you should have used a better background, that this was a bit cluttered. Then I was thinking about the "geek" and realized that this was the perfect background for him. lol. you did a great job putting him together. Lighting is good and focus is great. I would like to have seen a more straight on shot, however it looks like you did it this way on purpose and that is just fine as well. Great shot and good luck in the challenge. |
