Being of Sound Mind and Shell...by KazComment: Too darn funny. This is very creative and original. I like the obvious, but subtle pan. I have the feeling someone is going to comment on the focus of the pencil. However, I think its important that the focus is on the paper. The pencil is IN the photo, that's all that matters. I like the lighting and the angle. You're going to have to do a tutorial on how to train lobsters to hold a pencil. Too funny. Good luck with the challenge. |

Self-portrait with pencilby GinaRothfelsComment: Very nice. I was surprised at the amount of Self portrait photos. I saw a similar looking guy in the challenge archives, I believe it was in the Table Top challenge, or the From the ground up challenge. He was stomping on the camera lens or something Anyway, the lighting here looks perfect. Very creative way to make the little man drawing and great drawing of the little man drawing. The angle couldn't be better. I noticed that the pencil is leaning a little to the left, but also noticed that it's leaning in the self portrait too, so great job and good luck in the challenge. |

Fandangoby myqylComment: Very colorful. I'm not sure I understand reference to the title though. Unless you're just refering to a fan. Ah, who cares. This isn't a title contest. The colors are great, great spacing in the pencils and different colors. I like how the words are up on all pencils. That shows you took time to make this artistic. The lighting is great. No distracting shadows or bright spots. Nice job and good luck with the challenge. |

Hi I'm Gumb...by SwashbucklerComment: This would be really cool if he was writing on one of those name tags they make you wear at get togethers. I'm a big fan of gumby. I like the angle and the lighting is great. No funny shadows or bright spots. I like the soft focus on this photo. I'm not a huge fan of soft focus, but gumby isn't suposed to be sharp and crisp, so it works for me. Good luck in the challenge. |

Utilitarianby indigo997Comment: This is a very nice photo. Well executed. My only 2 hangups would be the shadows on the back, and the cropped arm. Great use of pencils. Other than the shadows, the lighting is great and angle is also great. The pencils are subtle but definately there. Great job and good luck in the challenge. |

My Brother the Artistby KrazyKatComment: There are quite a few photos of drawings this week. I have to wonder though, how many people are judging the drawing rather than the photo. This photo is very nice with the focus and the sharp tip of the pencil more obvious and clear than the drawing. This photo seems like a photo of a pencil, rather than a photo of a drawing that just happens to have a pencil in it. Great lighting and the angle is also very nice. Great job and good luck in the challenge. |

Sigh...by lisaeComment: I'm the red pencil right now. LOL. Except maybe I wish I were in Alaska where it isn't so darn hot and humid. This is a cute idea. It has originality and creativity. Lighting, angle and focus are great. Congrats and good luck with the challenge. |

Rest In Peaceby David EyComment: Dead pencil. It looks like he's laying on some flower petals and pencil shavings. The lighting is good and I like the angle of the pencil. The glare on the pencil between where it says USA and HB is kind of distracting. Otherwise great photo. Good luck in the challenge. |

Creativity Toolby stephanComment: This photo is definately original and the post editing is very creative. The photo is at a good angle making the pencil the subject and not the drawing. lots of similar photos this week that were pretty much a photo of a drawing and stuck a pencil in to meet the challenge. i wonder how many of the drawings will get judged rather than the photos. Oh well. I do have to wonder how you did this because when I invert the photos colors to make it easier to look at, the entire pencil doesn't show color. The hand is a bit dark in relation to the pencil. other than that, lighting and focus are good. Good luck in the challenge. |
